Doctor Visit

No new photos today, sorry.

We knew the kids need to have a doctor visit and immunizations, but did not understand it was to be today! We received a phone call at about 2:45 pm that our appointment is at 3:00 pm. Fortunately we were at home, ran downstairs, and Maria Teresa gave us a ride to the clinic only a couple kilometers away. We made it!

The doctor was very friendly. He asked the girls questions, reviewed their medical records that we had brought and gave each a cursory physical exam. They did TB tests, which need to be read on Thursday afternoon when they will also get a couple shots. They hate shots.

We ordered a room service dinner tonight, which was easy although mine was not very good.

I watched "Voice Kids" on TV with the girls. Although I don't understand the Spanish, the singing is amazing for such young children.

We will try to get the kids to sleep earlier tonight, as they need to wake up relatively early (for them) so we can be tourists tomorrow with Jorge. We will go up the mountain - Monserrate.

Soon we will meet with the Defender of Minors, who makes sure that everything is okay. The meeting must be at least 10 days after we received custody of the girls, so the first possible day is Thursday. Once this is complete then we can start the Judicial process. For that we travel to La Mesa, just west of Bogota. Apparently the courts in La Mesa operate much faster than those in Bogota. We file some papers and meet with a Judge, spread over one week. During that time we must stay in La Mesa in a hotel, which has a swimming pool. La Mesa is at a lower altitude than Bogota, and it can get hot.

After  La Mesa we return to Bogota for more paperwork. We hope to squeeze in a trip to Cartagena during this period so the kids can swim in the Caribbean. Then Kim will return home on November 21. I will remain in Bogota with the girls until the process is completed, which involves birth certificates, passports, visas, and so on.  My return airline ticket is for December 5th, but I have no idea if that will be the date.

We have Skyped with Kim's niece Jordan in Ohio and my brother Larry in Wisconsin. We also used IP telephony to talk with Kim's mom in Florida. We have tried to reach our adult children Tim and Mandy, but have not connected yet.

That's about all for now - buenas noches!
